A friend of mine commissioned this piece for his girlfriend whose Hebrew name is לבנה (Levanah). Levanah means "moon," so we decided to arrange the letters inside of a crescent moon shape. After a few design tweaks, we removed the backing crescent itself and let the letters represent the shape all by themselves. I particularly like how the abstraction of the letters creates negative space that evokes the craters and maria of the moon's surface.
