Etz Hayim Chai
November 2003
Sterling silver
Following the success of the
Etz Hayim Star, this piece was made for a the second annual charity auction held by my synagogue,
Congregation Etz Hayim in Arlington, VA.
עץ חיים (
Etz Hayim) means "Tree of Life," and the middle two letters spell
חי (
chai), or "life." Frequently seen on pendants, here the
חי is enhanced to incorporate the full name of the synagogue.
As to how it did in the auction, well . . . my friend Laura saw it when the lot was submitted, and nobody else stood a chance of placing the winning bid after that.
